A Master Follows No One    July, 2008

Master: a person with the ability or power to use, control, or dispose of something: a master of six languages; to be master of one's fate.

What are you choosing to master at this time in your life?

When you desire to become a master in Reiki remember as master you are defining yourself as a healer. Make sure you are not a carbon copy of another, make it yours.  Reiki, was Usui's; he channeled it and made it his own. He did however create an open doorway for us to enter and find our true essence, by raising our vibrations and listening to our highest calling. The rest is up to us to find our niche in the world and how we can express ourselves as loving, healing beings.

Masters, gurus, educators and the like are there to point the way but it is you, who makes the effort to apply the information given and adapt it into your everyday life. To truly master a practice one needs to integrate it into every aspect of their being. It becomes a part of everyday life, a blending of applied and inner knowledge, intuition, and common sense. The joy is revealed when one no longer seeks answers from without and delights to find the response is coming from within. This is when you know you are now on your path.

The practice of master can apply to any form of knowledge both personal and in business. Seek the wisdom of others but allow then your ultimate guidance to come from within. May I stand as a light to illumine your path as you glide on through life.

Flowing in Stride    May 2008

How come when something bothers you it seems to appear more often than not? Could it be an issue one needs to recognize and understand? Could this be the way the Universe is getting your attention? Let me explain.

I like my life neat and orderly. This helps me stay clear so I may assist others in the work I do. Or could this merely be a control issue? Hmmm. There is a fine line between order and control. I have hoped that I have mastered my control but I do listen to the Universe when it is showing me things otherwise and my current situation may be otherwise.

Arizona is very dry and dusty; after all it is a desert. There is fine sand which filters into my home no matter how diligent my cleaning. I am working on the yard trying to limit the dust by laying stones and planting flowers but the dust continues to permeate my world. The situation has now escalated because Bob and I are remodeling this home. There is fine powder everywhere; I cannot get away from it. This makes me wonder, am I pushing against my environment?

Perhaps my message is to let go and adjust to my surroundings. I have chosen to move to a desert, to be with the man I love and the decision still feels  so right so why aggravate myself. Life is not perfect and yet is it flawless in its imperfection. When a situation rubs you in the wrong way, it is time to stand aside and stride with the flow. I am now placing one foot in front of the other and dancing in the dirt.

In any given situation all is in divine order. May the perfection of your divinity enfold you and every step of the way on your path.

Spring Cleaning Inside and Out      April 2008

Why do spring cleaning only on your dwelling, how about your physical, mental and emotional dwelling?

I am slowly reading “Eat Pray Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. I find there are some books so delightful one does not want them to end. This is one of those books, I read a few pages each night and leisurely digest Gilbert’s insights. While in Bali, Gilbert spends time with a wise medicine man, he instructs her how to meditate. His simplicity to this practice is charming. Close your eyes and smile. That’s it, uncomplicated yet precise.

Have you ever though about how different a chore could be if you merely smiled while completing your task? Spring cleaning could be a time when you could discover how this might enhance your experience.

Now let’s take it one step further. Bring that smile through your entire being, every blood vessel, cell, molecule, into your DNA and the microcosmic field. Notice if you feel the buzz. If you do not feel anything, imagine you do. “Fake it till you make it”. The act of pretending primes the pump and activates inner sensations.

The next step is to allow the joy of your smile to penetrate into your etheric field. It moves out from the physical body into the emotional, then mental and finally the spiritual body. Now you really have thoroughly spring cleaned with little or no extra effort.

Awakening to Spring  March 2008

In Tucson spring has begun, in Denver it lays just below the surface of the land. Now is the time to come out of the hibernation of winter and gracefully blossom. The cold temperatures of winter encourage us to curl under blankets looking for warmth. All of the contemplation you have done during the cool days now will come together and you will have a clearer perception on that which was once cloudy.

Spring allows us to extend out to feel the fresh growth. This expansion also comes from within. As you watch for buds on the trees and warmth in the air be reminded that you too are awakening. Each year opportunity arises for you to expand your consciousness. When looking at growth remember to look back not in days but in months and years.

Where were you spiritually, mentally and emotionally at 2 years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago? Now don’t you feel better about where you are at now? Enjoy your day, give yourself a pat on the back, you are doing magnificent.

5 Ways to Build Any Business  2-08

Are you interested in creating a larger business or increasing your Reiki clientele?

The facts apply no matter what the business is.

  1. Let others know about you, toot your own horn
  2. Be an expert
  3. Apply what you know and present it clearly
  4. Build a data base and let others benefit from your knowledge
  5. Work from your heart

1.  Let others know about you, toot your own horn.

Talk about what you want to promote with everyone, absolutely everyone, and do it because you are enthused about what you do. If you are not excited about it, find another way to support yourself. Life is too precious to be doing things that are mediocre.

I had to wait an hour while getting my new drivers license in Tucson so I looked at the room full of people and surmised who might be interesting to sit by. I sat down next to a woman and in a few minutes commented about the numbering system they were using at this facility. Soon we were sharing information about each other. She asked what I did, and when I told her she referenced to a pain in her shoulder. I immediately placed my hand there and she was amazed that within a few minutes her pain was gone. We exchanged numbers and agreed to meet sometime for lunch.

Even if you don’t desire to have this person as a Reiki client, the simple act of sharing your gift with another can be refreshing for all involved. This opens the opportunity to express other interests, i.e. the business you would like to promote.

2.  Be an expert.

Remember even though there may be people in your company who know more than     you about a service or product, you know more than your customer. Clients or customers come to you because they feel you have the information they require to make a particular decision. Do your home work, have the pertinent information at hand and be ready to share. When it comes to Reiki, use your personal experience to let another know how it worked for you when applied. We are a curious sort, the human race, and always eager to learn more about subjects of interest. You can be that informative source.

3.  Apply what you know and present it clearly.

No matter what your service is to another, Reiki will assist in making your presentation smother. The high energy of Reiki will guide you to use the correct words and allow your ideas to be better received by softening the heart of another. Reiki connects the higher selves of all involved thus allowing a win, win experience for everyone.

4.  Build a data base and let others benefit from your knowledge.

In this day and age email has become the communication of choice but it can become overwhelming when the content of the correspondence is lacking pertinent information. Keep your letter short and to the point. (OK this one is a bit longer than most of my emails). Remember we are all experts in something, we have had unique life experiences and when applied to our understanding of energy through Reiki, we can help others to attain their goal.

5.  Work from your heart.

Even if what you are doing now is not your definitive job, put your heart into it. Look for one thing in this vocation which you like. It could be as simple as you like to get off at 3pm or you like one aspect of the product or service. You don’t need to like it all, just find a few things and expand on those. If you don’t care about the service or product you provide, neither will your clients. They will know if you are sincere or merely going through the motions. Same goes for Reiki, if you are questioning your ability, so will your client base. Come to one of our Reiki exchanges to practice your skills to gain confidence. They are a lot of fun.

What brings you joy is apparent through your mannerisms and voice. People want to be around someone who is excited about life. They love the energy. Let what you enjoy in life spillover into your business. You already know how to use energy to heal, now apply that knowledge to your everyday work life. It is just that easy. And don’t forget to smile and have fun.

New Years Intuition  1-07-08

As we settle down from the rush of the holidays we have an opportunity to create a focus for a new year.

Every year, sometime in January I intuit what the new year will bring. The message I receive is not specific, it is usually a feeling of what the year will bring. Last year I felt my business would change, but I knew not how. As the year proceeded my business was about the same. It wasn’t until May when I saw the change happening. Only in November did I get a clear picture. I mention this so you will have patience with yourself. When a message comes through do not expect immediate results. Do not doubt your inner feelings, they are your truth and do not need validation from others. Much of your struggle in this human form is trusting our thoughts, loving ourselves and acting upon our intuition.

Ask your questions, let them flow out to the Universe and accept the reply. Remember answers come in many forms, auditory, visual or sometimes an inner sense. In the goals you are setting for yourself for 2008 consider making one of those goals “trust in self”.

The Beauty of Pacing

a time to reevaluate  12-20-07

I have been reorganizing in Tucson so it has been a few months since my last communication. My move was smooth and successful. I am now settling in and feeling more comfortable with my new surroundings. I have taken on a new role as a fiancé and also house designer. Our home in Tucson is in need of an update and some TLC and I am on track. It is fun to envision new perspectives together and work on their completions. My struggle has been patience. I see it in my mind and want it done now. My how this house and Bob are healing me. Let me explain.

Healing energy can take many forms. I find this house has its’ own way of communicating with me. When I am intently working and rushing through my day it has a way of slowing me down with a particular dialogue. I was clearing the garden when under the overgrown plants appeared a beautiful flagstone patio. I had to stop and enjoy its’ beauty. It was hidden from sight and would only appear when I gave it my attention. The living room was the same way, I was so busy clearing and cleaning that I forgot to look at its’ magnificence. When I slowed down I found I could see mountains out the front window, a grapefruit tree through the patio, there was a flow through the entire house which I had missed in my hasty working. Even Bob is asking me to take some time to sit for a moment and enjoy the sun.

How many times have you missed the beauty around you because of the speed in which you travel? Could others become stressed because of your inability to retreat into a quieter space? This is certainly the case for me. Yes, I get a lot accomplished, but at what price. I have stepped into a new life, one that has given me opportunity to lovingly look at myself and the pace at which I am journeying through life.

At this season. it is all too easy to pick up the pace and miss the love and beauty which is unfolding around us. May I give to you this holiday season, the gift of awareness? Stop for a moment, and then a moment longer. Is what you are doing, what you are hoping to accomplish really need to be done immediately or even ever. Sit down with a hot cup of tea, warm your bones and refocus on the importance of your actions and its’ effect on others. Take a moment to reevaluate, slow down and smell the roses.

May the new year bring to you all your heart desires, in a pace that keeps you on track and in step to see the beauty forming around you.

What if you get what you really want?  9-07-07

So what happens when your dreams come true? Do you think it is easy to step into the vision you have been holding all your life? Think again my friend.

Even when the vision fits all your expectations the embodying of this master piece takes a little finesse. Surrender is the word that comes to mind. Total and complete. One must let go, free fall and submit to life. It is trickier than you might have imagined, but not impossible.

As life fulfills our desires we must open to receive these gifts. Old patterns need to be recognized and released. All it takes is time and stillness of thoughts. When the mind is racing to get things accomplished there is no time for perceptions. When one stops and observes, the simple act of becoming still will allow new ideas to be acquired. In this way the old ways will float to the surface thus allowing gentle change.

Surrender it the ultimate gift we can give to ourselves or to another. This requires complete trust, there is no judgment here. Surrender is a place of the unknown, holding a gift of peace, joy and love.

Laugh at your Troubles?              Why Not!  7-09-07

What makes you laugh? Have you ever given it a thought? In times of stress or sadness this knowledge just might come in handy. Taking a situation too seriously can have debilitating effects. When you step out of the analytical part of your brain, the left side and move into the creative right brain, anxiety "takes a hike".

It is scientifically proven laughter lowers blood pressure, eases pain by releasing endorphins and tones facial muscles to create a younger appearance. Only ten minutes of laughing can drop blood pressure 10 -20 mm. People who suffer with pain from arthritis or muscle tension can become more comfortable through laughing as it releases endorphins which are the body’s natural pain killers. Also one can look more youthful by exercising their facial muscles through a good hardy chuckle.

“No one will ever know what a single smile might do”

Mother Theresa

Stress often comes from being out of present time, worrying about the future and what might happen or lamenting over the past. Laughter puts you into the moment where there is nothing to do or think about, except the melodic sound of your own happy voice.

So remember the above facts the next time you are upset at work, with a friend or your intimate partner. A well timed lyrical comment can change the energy of the moment and lighten the situation. But don’t wait for stress to encourage you to laugh. Make it a point to do something to make someone laugh today. Be creative, use your imagination, this can be a lot of fun. A loving gesture could be the idea to make them laugh thus giving them all the above mentioned benefits.

How to Manifest Your Hearts Desire 6-26-07

Creating the magnetic pull to accomplish your dream can be easier than you think. The time element of waiting can illicit stress or frustration but it does not have to. There are some quick simple steps that when followed can bring ease into your life.

The first thing is to surround yourself with positive people, ones who already manifested what you are looking for. If you want a better job, hang with people who love what they do and are successful. If you want a better relationship than your last one, spend time with couples who are respectful, playful and loving with each other. Make sure your single friends are upbeat, positive and supportive of your situation.  Mix up your social time so you may be enveloped by harmonious couples and singles of both genders. Don’t make every social event a time to look for that special one, merely make your time out playful.

Let the joy of others rub off on you. Bask in their light and envision how it will feel when you are in a similar position. Say to yourself, “I can have that.”  To create success I have ridden my bike on the trails that run behind beautiful homes. I go off the trail and ride down the streets, the owners smile and wave to me assuming I live there. I wave back accepting that I could be a neighbor who lives around the corner. This gives my desire a taste of reality which empowers it.

The most important rule is to never lose sight of your dream. Hold the picture in your heart, do not give it a lot of details and allow the universe to fill in the blanks. In that way you will get more than you could have imagined. It also saves time and relieves stress. Put out your wish and know in your heart it will manifest. Remove the time restrains and go out and enjoy your life. Find joy in the simple things, then the time will pass quickly and before you know it, your desire will arrive.

Dreams Do Come True 6-03-07

Then and Now

It has been a month since my last e-mail but I have reasons, boy do I have reasons. On May 7th I was swept off my feet by my first love, Bob. I have known him since I was 15, engaged to him at 19 and I am engaged to him once again. If you have ever doubted that positive thought can produce results, let that idea dissolve, I am proof this technique really works.

The interesting thing about creative visualization is that it does not always work within the time frame we have planned in our minds. Over the years I have spent a lot of time creating my perfect relationship in my minds eye. Though holding this picture has not kept me from exploring other options in personal partners. I have stepped into less than perfect situations to experience life to the fullest and I have learned a great deal along the way. What has kept me happy is having a positive mental attitude no matter what the situation.

When you focus on your dream be clear as to what is your true hearts desire. Do not shut the doors to life because they do not immediately meet the criteria you have set forth. Every experience in life can be rich and rewarding, especially the most difficult ones. There is a cosmic time clock which does not always tick with the time frame you have in mind. When the heart leads, divine order will manifest.

As Bob and I look back we can see how divine order has always prevailed. In retrospect we can wish that we were joined sooner than now but we also see how perfect our lives have been and will be in the future. In my heart I knew I would find what my heart was seeking, the joy is finding it in someone who I have known and loved for 44 years.

Hold the picture of your hearts desire and do not waver. The positive emotion you pour into this image is what gives it life. Place it in your heart and let your divine essence bring it into manifestation. Let go of the time line, live your life and enjoy what is presented each and every day and know you will achieve your goal.

P.S.

I will be moving to Tucson sometime this fall. My heart is torn, I am excited to be with Bob and yet I will miss all of you and the bond we have created. Love knows no boundaries, no matter where my physical body resides my heart will always be in Denver with the ones who have touched me so deeply over the years.

I will keep my home and center and probably be back here in 4 years. In the mean time I will continue to practice my healing and counseling via the phone.  I will also create tours to spiritual sites where we can once again meet and play with energies.

Simple Joys    5-02-07

Uncle Blake and Isa             Isa keeping busy while we cook     Bubbles of fun with nona

While my one-year-old granddaughter Isa, was here for a visit this weekend, I was able to focus on the simple side of life. Let’s look at what can be learned from these little spirits, fresh from the divine.

Toddlers have not yet learned how to withhold their feelings; they quickly and easily express themselves leaving no mystery as to what they are about in any given moment. Seeing they have not yet mastered language they will portray their feelings with no hidden agenda. They never eat because they are stressed and always stop as soon as they are full, with no question. When they are done, you will know it because they will throw the remaining food on the floor. Isa was quite surprised that at Nona’s house there was no dog to clean up what she dropped and finish the meal she had completed.

When a toddler has an emotion it is expressed fully. Tears are easily released and it does not take much coaching to elicit a smile soon after. Once their emotions are felt it is over, no holding on, no grudges or judgments. They are then delighted to play and will respond to your smile with like in return.

When a little one gets sick they know exactly what to do, sleep. They allow their body to rest and recover without worrying about deadlines, appointments or expectations others may have of them. They will find comfort and nestle themselves in the arms of those who love them while they quietly rest.

As I sit here in Denver and watch the rain and snow gently fall I drift between feelings of pressure to complete the work I present to myself and flowing with the moisture falling from the sky. I think of Isa and her simple approach to life. She has not yet created the patterns which can dominate her life. I recall a time when I was a child and I would stare out the window, impatiently waiting for the rain to stop so I could go out and play.

Let this day be one of dancing between the rain drops and the things you choose to accomplish today. Allow the time to flow as you drain off the pressure of the day and drench yourself in the sparkle of a rain drop or the crystalline form of snow.

Laugh Like No One is Looking  4-26-07

As a small child I was always told, “Don’t be so silly”, well now I find it was probably what kept me sane. Research is showing the effects of laughing can have very positive physical effects as well as being emotionally uplifting. Children laugh 300 to 400 times a day, adults, less than15 times. So why don’t we do it more? Too busy, afraid to offend someone, need to look professional, ah, the list goes on.

I am happy to say laughing is now getting the press it needs to encourage people to let go of stress and “lighten up”. Yesterday, even Oprah had a segment on being happy. Dr. Robert Holden author of Happiness Now tells us there is no reason to go and find happiness for it is already within you. His message was pretty simple, Holden says, surround yourself with positive people and claim your inherit happiness. Oprah asks, but how?

Reggie, Oprah’s makeup artist is described the biggest complainer Oprah knows, so Oprah signed him up for a Laughing Yoga class. Reggie says that before his laughing yoga class, he was depressed. It was the Saturday before Easter, he was lonely and he doubted the class would do much to change that. "It was very goofy in the beginning … but you can't fake a laugh," he says. "Once you get into it … the stress lifted from my soul, it lifted from my body." Reggie later claimed he had a lovely Easter, which surprised him. What he didn’t know was the effects of laughter can last for days after a session.

Now the next question is, “where can I find a laughing yoga class”? It just so happens I am a certified laughing yoga leader and I tell you this, is easy, fun and a great exercise. We will start with some silly exercises, do a little deep breathing, laugh for no apparent reason and then relax at the conclusion. The yoga part is the breathing and relaxation; you do not need to know how to do yoga. I will explain why the term yoga is used at our session. Click here for more information.

So do you want to be happier, come to Laughing Yoga this Monday, April 16th. We will laugh before the Reiki exchange at 6 pm. What do you have to lose? You will probably release some stress, let go a few worries and feel a whole lot better when you leave. Come try it out, and leave your troubles behind.
